What is EPA?
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is
an organization under the federal government
of United States that monitors the issues
related to human health and environment.
It is more concerned in discovering the
cause of environmental pollution and evolving
method which can be adopted as an alternative
to any other practice that creates the mess
in the environment. It also deals with the
certification of products that are sold
in US after reviewing a series of test results
that are conducted over the product.
EPA certificate is considered as a green
certificate for a product means it is strictly
advised for use in order to protect the
environment from its degradation. Moreover
humans are facing a tough challenge of controlling
the global warming and EPA provides the
solution for it. By following the regulations
of EPA and by using the products certified
by EPA, the environmental issues can be
trounced accordingly.
Considering agricultural contribution to
environmental problems, the use of synthetic
pesticides or insecticides in the fields
can ruin not only the plants growth but
also the fertility of the soil and further
proceeds to contamination of the environment.
Thus farmers are advised by the EPA to use
organic products for pest control as well
as for plant growth.
EPA particularly evaluated the natural
oil from neem
tree and stated its characteristics and
importance in agriculture. Thus Neem oil
is rated as the best among the organic pesticides
because of the presence of two main constituents'
azadirachtin and clarified hydrophobic extract.
Azadirachtin has a highly insecticidal
property, and it is used as the vital ingredient
in the manufacturing of few organic insecticides.
Removing azadirachtin from neem oil using
alcohol leave a residue of clarified hydrophobic
extract, which is pure extract of neem oil
used as a fungicide in plants. As per EPA
evaluation, neem oil is considered to be
non-toxic. Use of neem oil pesticide is
easy if followed according to label directions
and no special skill is required.
