The native for neem tree is tropical South
East Asia. The scientific name of neem tree
is Azadirachta
indica. It has the ability to grow very
fast and survive drought and poor soils.
It always has leaves in the tree through
the year. It is of 30 meters height with
leafy branches. After two to three years,
many white flowers appear with a smell of
honey. After three to five years, fruit
appear. The ripe fruit is of oval shape
at 2 cm long. A light coloured seed at 1.5
cm long appears inside the fruit. The neem
trees can be grown in areas where there
is a yearly rainfall between 400 mm and
1500mm. They require very hot temperatures
from 44 C to 4 C.

Importance of neem tree:

bark is used in medical preparations. The
neem oil
can also be prepared from neem tree. They
are used for preparing cosmetics such as
soap, shampoo etc. The neem gum is the special
purpose food for patients in diabetics.
They have rich source of protein.
The neem is used as pest in agriculture
and as well as disease control. They act
as an environmental friend biopesticides.
They are very effective in scabies treatment.
They are also good in worm's treatment.
The neem oil is sprayed in dogs and cats
for preventing them against fleas.
Advantages of Neem Tree:

- Also acts as deworming agent,
- Helps in proper maintenance of liver

- It is used in the treatment of hair
