Control Red mites with the application of Neem oil:

Poultry farms are severely noted with external blood sucking parasites called Red mites, which usually breed between the corner fissures of the farms. These mites are characterized by a red colored body, and they form cluster red patches near the cracks. The clusters of them when squashed produce reddish fluid which is nothing but the blood of the chickens sucked before. Since they are miniature in size, their locomotion resembles the movement of dusts. Red mites are inefficient in flying, and so they are somewhat easy for the farm keepers to identify in the daytime. However, during the night it is hard to catch them as they slowly start moving from the cracks towards the breeding area of chickens.

On the comparison with other types of mites, Red mites are highly destructive in nature and have the added capability of reducing the inefficiency in poultries related to eggs laying and nutrition of the broiler meat. The parasites are expected to spread to neighboring birds when they come into direct contact. Consequently, these mites are not confined to a particular breed of birds while it comes to infestation.

Birds in the farm are meticulously observed with a series of symptoms due to the attack of mites that includes skin itching and frequent body stress in birds. In extreme cases, infant chickens are likely to die due to severe infection. Warm summer condition is very appropriate for the mites to multiply, and it takes seven days to complete their life cycle. If their population is left unnoticed it becomes a serious issue on later stage. Moreover, the mites are supposed to be the slow destroyer of the poultry farm, and thus it is indispensable to watch out for the presence of red mite clusters inside the farm house.

Eradication process of red mites should be carried immediately after the identification of their clusters. They entail strong anti-parasitic product that not only controls their population but also instill the incompetence in their further attack. With all these conditions to be satisfied, on permuting the control types, it is only the Organic method that can support in this case. Neem oil, an organic extract of the neem tree has a vital constituent of Azadirachtin, which owns anti-parasitic property. And by spraying Neem oil around the poultry farm once or twice in a week can effectively work against Red mites’ infection. The clusters can be completely get rid off by Neem oil application. Furthermore, it can be sprayed near the poultry cages for repelling the invasion of mites towards the birds. Neem oil is purely organic, and in no way it affects the birds and the surrounding environment on spraying.
