Best ways to treat Stink bugs using Neem oil:

Stink bugs are insects that belong to the genus Pentatomidae. The unique physical feature of this insect will be the presence of a gland between the thorax and abdomen which discharges a fetid smelling substance that is allergic to few pests. In some gardens, stink bugs are encouraged to keep certain other destructive insects away from the plants. However, it is the fact that these tiny creatures are also observed to suck the plant sap in minor scale. At large population, Stink bugs become a major disturbing pest in the gardens spreading their attack at a greater pace. They can make the whole farm into an icky area by their discharge of special liquid. This drives the gardeners to avoid encouraging stink bugs if they are found around their gardens or farms. Sometimes control measures for stink bugs are even taken to make sure the creatures get away without breeding.

Since they have a high resistive capacity to synthetic pesticides, it becomes difficult to eradicate them. Thus they also earn the title “shield bugs”. The insect is small and their identification before the multiplication is a challenging job. Only by prior regular monitoring in the plant area, there is a possibility to control the bugs well enough otherwise the gardener has to spend more on the treatment methods.

Field's trials of Neem oil application, an organic way of controlling bugs has proven positive against Stink variety too. Saps of the plants are protected from the bugs attack by spraying Neem oil daily once and the practice is done constantly every week. The spray can deter the laying of eggs thereby it declines their population. Organic Neem oil certified by Environmental Protection Agency, US has been a preferred product that can capably repel the Stink bugs by its strong odor.

The bugs do not bite or infect humans. However, the stinky liquid creates a mist and if eyes are exposed to that mist, there is a chance of getting severe burning sensation. It is advised to clean the eyes with fresh cold water immediately after the exposure, and it is better take the issue to a physician for further advice. Some other ways to terminate Stink bugs will include the removal of unwanted weeds in the garden which are supposed to be the hiding place of the bugs, spraying of kaolin clay liquid in the area where eggs of bugs are prone to get laid.
