Snake oil:
In actual, Snake oil is the organic oil
prepared from fats of a water snake of Chinese
origin, which is used as a pain reliever
in ailments like arthritis, eczema and other
inflammatory diseases. The Oil is known
for its anti-inflammation property due to
the presence of high concentration of a
constituent Eicosapentaenoic acid. This
oil is considered to be one of the ancient
oil instigated from china. Combination of
snake oil with some animal fats is used
for re-growth of hair in a bald head. In
recent time, this oil is also used as an
additive in the manufacturing of natural
ointments meant for treatment
of severe pain causing disorders. It contains
omega-3 fatty acids that can reduce high
blood pressure, prevention of heart attack,
etc. The unique property which being believed
about Snake oil is that it can treat mental
illness and will be effective in treatment
of hypertension, depression and some emotional
disturbances, but it has no evidential facts
until now.
The word "Snake Oil" is been used
as a functional word for some natural Oils
that has numerous benefits; since Snake
oil is supposed to be the oil from ancient
times that regarded as the best organic
medication oil used for many ailments. On
later stage, Marketers started using the
word Snake oil for all manufactured medication
oils containing natural ingredients. Such
oil products available in the market are
observed to be fake in most of the case;
either it sold online or offline.
Neem oil Vs Snake oil:
Neem oil, well known organic oil originated
from East Asia hailed as a Latest Snake
Oil by the marketers. However, Neem oil
is no way similar to Snake oil; they differ
in most of the aspects except anti-inflammatory
property, which is common in both the oils.
Even though the property is alike the constituent
responsible for such property differs in
both the oils. In Neem oil, Nimbidin is
the constituent that expressed anti-inflammatory
property. Extracted Neem
oil has various properties other than
anti-inflammation that includes anti-allergic,
anti-septic, anti-diabetic, anti-fungal,
anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic and anti-allergic.
Neem oil not only used as Medication oil,
but it also serves as an effective bio-pesticide
as well as insecticide in farms. It can
control more than 500 types of pests. It
is also used as an organic
fertilizer. Thus Neem oil is more efficient
than Snake oil, and it does not require
any sort of functional description like
other products for marketing. It has value
for itself in the markets.
