Organic Manure is a natural fertilizer
which is obtained from the biologically
degraded plant and animal matters. Organic
manures are essential in farms in order
to increase the soil fertility, supply NPK
nutrients in abundance (as it is already
a degraded plant matter), and raise the
efficiency of the soil in holding up the
rainwater and also to improve the ground
water drains.
There are wide varieties of Organic
manure available in the market. Organic
Manures comparing with synthetic Fertilizers,
contains fewer nutrients. Thus organic manures
are sometimes prepared from a particular
plant or herb which contains an ample amount
of nutrients required for growth fertility
in plants and crops. Neem, Karanja and castor
are the identified herbal sources for the
production of such manure.
Firstly, Neem herb is a largely available
resource in south and Middle East. Neem
tree is considered as the best ayurvedic
medicine for most of the ailments added
to that it also has bio-pesticidal properties
thus got assessed by the Environment Protection
Agency of US as the best organic pesticide.
Neem herb is available in various forms
and one such is the Neem manure. Neem manure
is nothing but the powder of the Neem
leaf with some organic matters broken
down by the soil microbes. Neem is supposed
to contain NPK in plenty so it will be effective
when mixed with soil substance ensuring
the supply abundant. Moreover, it also acts
as a pest repellent in the farms preventing
the underground burrowing pests. Neem manure
is eco-friendly and makes no harm to the
existing microbes. It can also be used as
a coating agent for urea.
Secondly, Karanja manure is obtained from
the herbal tree called Karanja. It is also
indigenous to South East Asian countries.
Karanja manure is prepared from the smashed
Karanja seeds obtained as a residue from
the Oil extraction process. Seeds of Karanja
are rich in nitrogen and anti-pest toxic
nutrients. Mostly, Karanja manures are used
as an additive in inorganic fertilizers
rather than applying raw. Thoroughly mix
with soil, making nutrients directly available
to the root zone. As Karanja consists of
similar characteristics of Neem, it has
the same benefits which neem has.
Castor Manure or Oil serves to be one of
the best organic manure after Neem and Karanja.
Castor Manure is prepared by powdering the
kernels of castor seeds. Extraction of Oil
from castor seeds is also used as the manure
in soil.
